Rural Business
Following a survey of rural businesses undertaken by the Economic Regeneration Team, in partnership with Bedfordshire County Council, Business Link and Bedfordshire Rural Affairs Forum, a number of business support events were held across the district in June. Business Support
A number of organisations offer business support specifically designed to meet the needs of rural businesses. Details on some of these are outlined below.
BRCC
In addition to delivering a range of community development services, BRCC offers training and events designed to meet the needs of businesses, particularly farming, land-based and allied industries. For more information, visit the training pages of the BRCC website, www.bedsrcc.org.uk
Bedfordshire Rural Affairs Fourm (BRAF)
BRAF is an independent organisation that aims to provide a co-ordinated voice for rural Bedfordshire and is involved in schemes to support the rural economy. This currently includes the development of an application for funding for rural development in the Greensand Ridge, which would be of benefit to businesses and farmers based in the area, as well as those considering starting a business or diversifying. Women in Rural Enterprise (WiRE)WiRE offer business services and support for women in rural enterprise. This includes local network groups, monthly newsletters, online business advice and marketing opportunities. Visit the WiRE website for further information, www.wireuk.org
Department for Environment, Farming and Rural Affairs (Defra)
The Defra website www.defra.gov.uk provides a range of information, including farming support, guidance on trade and exports, latest news and policies and regulations.
Shuttleworth Business
