OXFORD2CAMBRIDGE ARC

The Oxford2Cambridge Arc has been set up to promote the extraordinary and unique set of educational, research, business, commercial and governmental resources that exist in the area around and betwen Oxford and Cambridge.  So successful has this area been that it now has every reason to describe itself as the European Hi-Tech Capital for knowledge-based industries.

The Arc is supported and funded by three Regional Development Agencies, SEEDA, EEDA and EMDA, that overlap it as well as all the Economic Partnerships within it (Oxford, Buckinghamshire, Milton Keynes, Bedfordshire and Luton, Northampton and Cambridge) and several Arc-based Network Organisations - notably Library House and The Central Innovation Network.

MAS EAST

The Manufacturing Advisory Service is a national DTI initiative which provides manufacturing, engineering and technology related companies with support to help them become more competitive.  It provides access to affordable, practical, hands-on operational expertise with the aim of delivering tangible improvements and boosting efficiency and productivity levels across all business processes.

MAS East offers the following services:

One day free diagnostic and advisory visit
Subsidised support
Referrals to technology or industry organisations
Access to an expert helpline and web service
Information on regional events

UNIVERSITY OF BEDFORDSHIRE KNOWLEDGE HUB

The Knowledge Hub at the University of Bedfordshire offers a range of business services, including training and development; specialist services and consultancy focusing on innovation and boosting competitiveness; access to graduates; and enterprise and entrepreneurship programmes.

TAKEITON
 
TakeITon is a region-wide awareness campaign being led by the East of England Development Agency.  It aims to highlight to businesses the opportunities and benefits for IT adoption.  A £3 million package of support is being offered over a three-year period, and this includes:

  • Five new specialist IT advisors through Business Link, who are available to carry out free IT healthchecks on businesses and offer independent professional advice on how to improve. 
  • Grants of up to 40% (up to £4,000) towards the costs of IT packages that support the implementation of IT and e-commerce improvements
