How to Pay your Business Rates

By Direct Debit: If you have a bank or building society account Direct Debit is the easiest way to pay. We will let you know your instalment dates and amounts at least 14 days before the first payment is due. To set up a Direct Debit please phone on any of the following numbers and we will send you a mandate. The phone numbers are 0845 849 6234, 0845 849 6235, 0845 849 6236 or 0845 849 6237.

By Post: If you wish to pay by cheque please send your payment to South Bedfordshire District Council, The District Offices, High Street North, Dunstable Beds, LU6 1LF. If you enclose your business rates bill this will be receipted and returned to you. You can also just send the cheque to the council but you must make sure that put your account details on the rear of the cheque (in these instances a receipt will not be issued)

By Phone: For payments by Debit/Credit cards you can phone 0845 849 5968. Please note we cannot accept payments by Electron or American Express. Please have your card and council tax account number details available as they will be needed to undertake the transaction. The council are providing an automated touch-tone payment service which allows payments to be made any time day or night. This service will not require you to speak to a cashier.

By Bank Giro: (You may have to pay a transaction charge) Please ensure the council tax account number is entered on the giro credit slip. Our bank details are: Lloyds TSB Bank, 12-14 High Street North, Dunstable, Beds, LU6 1JY; sort code 30-92-77; Account number 00690752.

By Internet: You can pay by debit card by visiting our website www.southbeds.gov.uk click on internet payments button and follow the on screen instructions. Please have your debit card and business rates account number details available.

PLEASE NOTE YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PAY IN PERSON AT THE COUNCIL CASH OFFICES, AS THEY HAVE CLOSED.
