Awards for All
A4A supports a wide range of groups working in the arts, culture, heritage, sports, education, health, community development, environment etc. To date A4A has awarded over 11 million to over 3400 local community groups within the Eastern region. The programme offers grants from 500 - 5000, and outcomes are heard within 3 months of applying - so remember to allow at least 4 months when planning your project as grants cannot be awarded retrospectively.
You must be a not-for-profit/ voluntary organisation with a bank account and constitution with a turnover of less than 20,000 per annum, supporting and encouraging community participation. Partnership or match funding is not necessary, and you have one year to spend the money.
You can use the grant for putting on an event, activity or performance; providing training opportunities; setting up a pilot project; special repairs or conservation work; start up costs; publicity material; professional fees; equipment and materials; transport costs; volunteers' expenses.
Some examples of successful 'Awards for All' in the South Bedfordshire region:
Families United Network
Exciting children's project taking place during school holidays. Award meant special events; workshops and excursions could be enjoyed by disabled children and their families.
Downside Youth Group
To provide a two-week activity programme in the summer holidays for children aged 8-13 years from the Downside estate.
Bumblebees Playgroup
Award to pay for a mobile bookcase and books; storage shed and shelving, crates; play equipment and activity playmats.
Tithe Farm Lower School PTA
Providing outdoor play activity equipment for the nursery centre garden of the Lower School to better enable the development of local children's physical health and skills.
Toddington Scout Group
Award funded camping equipment for the group.
