Census Data

In 2003 the Office of National Statistics released Census 2001 data that could be broken down for analysis at local authority and ward level. For each of the 23 wards in South Bedfordshire a profile has been produced to highlight the key Census findings. Each ward profile includes a variety of data from population, age and ethnicity statistics to more detailed information concerning housing, education and the economy.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Census?
The Census is a count of all people and households across the UK. The information collected from the Census can help with the planning and funding of public services. Findings from the Census are available at a national, district and ward level.

What is a ward?
South Bedfordshire is comprised of 23 wards, small geographical areas made up of towns and villages, each being represented by a Councillor.

What is a ward profile?
A ward profile analyses and interprets the statistical findings of the Census at ward level. Ward profiles can tell you how many people live in the ward, how old they are, what kind of houses they live in and even how many hours they work each week.

How can I find the profile for my ward?
Comprehensive profiles for each ward were published here early in 2004. You can also access summary information for your ward. Just enter your postcode or ward name in the search box.
