Armed Forces

The Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces are responsible for defending the United Kingdom and promoting international peace and security.

The Armed Forces are headed by five Chiefs of Staff:

• Chief of the Defence Staff
• Vice Chief of the Defence Staff
• First Sea Lord and Chief of Naval Staff
• Chief of the General Staff (Head of the British Army)
• Chief of the Air Staff (Head of the Royal Air Force)
