Disabled People Survey 2008

Do you live, work or study in either Mid or South Bedfordshire?

Are you disabled, caring for someone who is disabled or have an interest in issues affecting disabled people locally?

If so, South Bedfordshire and Mid Beds District Councils would like to know your views on public services and how well we serve disabled people in the area.

Introduction

Since the introduction of the Disability Discrimination Act in 1995, the councils have taken important steps towards making sure that we meet our obligations under the Disability Equality Duties. 

As part of our review process and to ensure that all our residents have equal access to all of our services, we are carrying out this survey, to get your views about local services and how they might be improved in the future.

We will pass on any comments you have on services that are not directly provided by South Bedfordshire and Mid Beds District Councils to the appropriate agency, such as the health service, police or the fire authority.

Results of the questionnaire will be included in each council’s updated Disability Equality Scheme and will be available on our websites.

The deadline is the 19 March 2008.

How to complete the questionnaire

• Each council provides a wide range of services and functions across their district. They want to know what you think about these services. Do you think they could be improved to make them more accessible and easier to use, or do they need to provide services which do not exist at present?
• Please don’t feel you have to say something about every subject. If you don’t know or don’t have a view, just leave that section blank.  If you just want to tell us about one thing which is important to you that will be fine. 
• Will the results be confidential?
  Yes, all the replies we receive will be treated with the strictest confidence. The questionnaire form is anonymous - we don’t ask for your name or address, although you can provide them if you wish to.
