How to pay your council tax?
By Direct Debit: If you have a bank or building society account Direct Debit is the easiest way to pay. We will let you know your instalment dates and amounts at least 14 days before the first payment is due. Payments by Direct Debit are due on the 5th of the month. To set up a Direct Debit please phone on any of the following numbers and we will send you a mandate. The phone numbers are 01582 474134 / 474135 / 474136 / 474137.
Alternatively if you wish to pay by direct debit and have not already completed a mandate, you can also complete the request for a mandate form
By Post: If you wish to pay by cheque please send your payment to South Bedfordshire District Council, The District Offices, High Street North, Dunstable Beds, LU6 1LF. If you enclose your council tax bill this will be receipted and returned to you. You can also just send the cheque to the council but you must make sure that put your account details on the rear of the cheque (in these instances a receipt will not be issued)
By Phone: For payments by Debit/Credit cards you can phone 08458 49 59 68. Please note we cannot accept payments by Electron or American Express. Please have your card and council tax account number details available as they will be needed to undertake the transaction. The council are providing an automated touch-tone payment service which allows payments to be made any time day or night. This service will not require you to speak to a cashier.
By Bank Giro: (You may have to pay a transaction charge) Please ensure the council tax account number is entered on the giro credit slip. Our bank details are:

By Internet: You can pay by debit card by visiting our website, click on internet payments button from the homepage or go directly to our online payments page and follow the on screen instructions. Please have your debit card and council tax account number details available.
By Allpay.net payment card: If you have an allpay.net payment card you can pay, free of charge, at any Post Office, PAYzone, or PayPoint Woolworth Stores in the UK. Using this card you can pay at any Post Office by cash, debit card or cheque (made payable to Post Office Ltd). At PAYzones you can pay by debit card or cash and PayPoints you can pay by cash only. Simply hand your card and payment to the cashier and they will give you a receipt which you should keep as proof of payment.
If you have not received a plastic allpay.net payment card and wish to pay by this method. The phone numbers are 01582 474134 / 474135 / 474136 / 474137 and we will arrange for a card to be sentto you.
