Another Successful Market in Houghton Regis (31/07/06)

Houghton Regis held its second craft and farmers market last Thursday, and it was just as successful as the first. Shoppers flooded the Bedford Square area, taking advantage of the wide selection of home cooked food, local produce, and arts and crafts on offer.

Sue King, Economic Regeneration Assistant at the District Council organised the market in partnership with Houghton Regis Town Council. She said: "The market was very well supported by local traders, craftspeople and shoppers. Retailers in Bedford Square hopefully benefited from the additional customers too. We are already planning another market for October and a special Christmas one in December. Look out for more information soon!"

The market was made up of stalls selling dairy produce, vegetables, meat, preserves, chilli plants, flowers, edible ornaments and authentic curry sauces, as well as crafts such as glassware, candles, jewellery, ceramics, woodcrafts and pottery. There was also free face painting and balloon modelling for children.
