Council needs your Views (06/02/06)

Don't miss the chance to have your say on how areas in Dunstable should be regenerated in the future. South Bedfordshire District Council, in partnership with the sites owners, has produced a draft Design Framework to guide the regeneration of the former Trico site and adjoining areas in High Street North, Dunstable.

The framework includes urban design and planning principals that will ensure a high quality and sustainable development will be delivered on the regenerated site.

This document is the subject of a public consultation and the council want your views and input. The framework can be inspected between 9 and 21 February at:

  • Dunstable Town Council, Grove House, High Street North, Dunstable;
  • South Bedfordshire District Council, The District Offices, High Street North, Dunstable: and
  • Dunstable Library,

during their normal opening hours.

As part of this public consultation exercise an exhibition is being held in Committee Room 1 at South Bedfordshire District Councils Offices, on Thursday 16 February 2006 at 7.30pm. All are welcome and encouraged to attend this event which will be staffed by independent facilitators, the main landowners of the site and officers from the District Council. They will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

David Atkinson, Senior Planning Officer at South Beds District Council said: "This site presents a tremendous opportunity for Dunstable to secure a high quality regeneration capable of uplifting the environment of this rather run down and neglected area. The site offers the potential to generate a gateway to the town from the north that will raise the prestige and standing of the town in the region".
