Downsides ground force targets Morcom Park (24/11/06)

Downside residents will be putting their gardening skills into action this Saturday when they take part in a community planting day at Morcom Park, the former garage site off Morcom Road.

Local residents of all ages will plant a range of plants and trees including Magnolias and Acers. The event is being held to mark the completion of the landscaping works on the new park, which includes new paths, lighting, flowerbeds, trees, shrubs and landscaping.

The work has transformed the site, which was previously well known for attracting vandalism. The District Councils decision to remove the garages and create Morcom Park was part of the Downside Trailblazers project, which engages local people in decisions about their estate.

The event will be held between 11am and 1pm.
