Houghton Regis Market Returns (17/07/06)

A special craft and farmers market will make a return visit to Bedford Square in Houghton Regis next Thursday (27 July). Following the success of the first market of this kind in June, traders will once again pitch their stalls selling a wide selection of home cooked food, local produce, and arts and crafts.

Executive portfolio holder for markets, Councillor David McVicar, said: "We are pleased to be able to hold a second market in Houghton Regis. It is an opportunity for local people to enjoy an alternative shopping experience, and is part of our efforts to ensure the retailing needs of the community continue to be met in light of the recent Co-Op fire.

"The first market proved extremely popular and I hope local people will continue to support traders by making a return visit."

Stalls at the market will be selling dairy produce, vegetables, meat, preserves, chilli plants and flowers, as well as crafts such as glassware, candles, jewellery, ceramics, woodcrafts and pottery. There will also be free face painting for children. It will take place between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
