Downside to be art attacked (11/04/2007)

A free art workshop with artist Vince Walker will help get youngsters thinking about and creating a new landmark which will be placed at the top of Oakwood Road at the entrance to Blows Downs, part of Dunstable Downs.

They will then be taken onto the Downs to experience the alternative world that exists on Downside's own doorstep while also having the chance to think about crime and safety in the area.

The workshop will be followed by two more at Downside Lower School (dates to be confirmed) with examples of what the finished landmark may look like being displayed in a public exhibition in the near future.

The exhibition will also show work made from recycled glass bricks, with surface patterns designed by participants who worked with Vince Walker at previous workshops at Downside Lower School and the Mayfield Centre. These will be laid in a paved threshold at the entrance to the new Guinness Trust Development.

The workshop will take place on Thursday 12 April 2007 between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm.
