Prosecution Against Council Tax Benefit Fraudster

A Leighton Buzzard man has pleaded guilty to council tax benefit fraud after an in depth investigation by South Bedfordshire District Council.

Stefan Bojczuk of George Street, Leighton Buzzard had failed to give correct details about his savings when making a claim for council tax benefit and pleaded guilty to six charges of furnishing false documents.

Yesterday (18 February 2008) Luton Magistrates Court fined Mr Bojczuk £1250.00 and also awarded the council £676.05 in costs to be paid within 14 days.

Councillor Philip Penman, portfolio holder for the Benefits Service at the council said: “South Bedfordshire District Council continues to take acts of fraud very seriously and will seek to bring offenders to justice whilst ensuring those in genuine need receive the benefits to which they are entitled”.
