Get Active
Grants of up to £300 are available to South Bedfordshire’s Community Groups and Talented Individuals involved in leisure development projects and activities.
This May grants were awarded to:
· St Katherine's Senior Citizens Group in Dunstable, who were awarded money for a television/video set with the purpose of using video exercise tapes to keep them more active
· MELA Luncheon Club, Houghton Regis to purchase fitness equipment.
· New Woodfield Green Residents Association, Dunstable to go towards the cost of a community cohesion event.
· Harry Norton, a young golfer from Linslade to go towards his travel expenses and new equipment.
· Johnathan Goodman an archer from Dunstable received money for arrows and Release Aid plus travel and training expenses.
· Amy Harris from Dunstable to attend a swimming training camp in Italy.
· Canoeists
· Robert Creamer from Leighton Buzzard to go towards the purchase of a new boat;
· Charlotte Ellis from Eaton Bray to go towards the purchase of a second hand marathon and sprint boat;
· And Laura Hussy from Leighton Buzzard for Kayaking equipment.
· Ten Pin bowlers Samuel True and Lewis Richardson both from Houghton Regis to go towards expenses.
· Cristian De Sa a talented Violinist from Heath and Reach to go towards transport expenses and a new bow.
· Charlotte Cook an Ice Skater from Eaton Bray to go towards the cost of skates and blades.
· Jack Gambrill an athlete from Leighton Buzzard to go towards travel and accommodation expenses and running kit.
The More Active Grant Scheme supports the council’s ambition of a ‘more active district’ by encouraging leisure development projects and activities within the arts, sport, play, open spaces and countryside recreation and community development.
