Walk This Way

South Bedfordshire District Council has released its new Historic Building and walking guide which takes you on picturesque walks across the district.

Discover South Beds is a free booklet with 10 walks through some of the historic towns and villages in South Bedfordshire and features some of the area’s most interesting buildings.

One of the walks takes you through the village of Toddington, past old schools and manor houses. In particular you can see Toddington Manor, built in 1560 for Lord Henry Cheney which once included a chapel and indoor tennis court. The magnificent building is now owned by Sir Neville and Lady Bowman-Shaw with beautiful gardens covering 10 acres.

Copies of the Discover South Beds booklet can be picked up from the District Offices in Dunstable, High Street North and are also accessible from libraries and tourist information offices across the district. The booklet can also be downloaded from the council’s website.
