Chips are Down at Pride Event!

The chips will, quite literally, be down during Dunstable’s Pride in Downside event...

Because the RSPCA will be at Downside Community Centre, Oakwood Avenue, between 2pm and 5pm on Wednesday, October, 15 to micro-chip dogs for the highly discounted price of £10.

Because demand will be high, it is essential owners’ book in advance and appointments will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Bookings can be made by telephoning the police Safer Neighbourhood Team on 01582 473112 or emailing officers at SNT.Watling&Manshead@bedfordshire.pnn.police.uk.

Bedfordshire police will be running a surgery in conjunction with the RSPCA visit to offer advice on animal legislation and general crime prevention information.

‘Pride in Downside’ runs over two weeks between October 11 and 20 and October 27 and November 3 and supports a Government initiative called ‘National Neighbourhood Week’.

It is a team effort led by of the Downside Community Safety Task Group, including the resident led Downside Stakeholder Focus Group, South Bedfordshire District Council, Bedfordshire Police, Dunstable Town Council, Bedfordshire County Council, Beds and Luton Fire And Rescue Service, Aldwyck Housing and other local agencies.

Safer Neighbourhood Officer PC Paul Ayling, who is co-ordinating the initiative, said: “We are delighted so many organisations are involved and want to thank the RSPCA for joining in. If any other organisation would like to organise something as part of Pride in Downside, they need only get in touch.”

Celia Donald, Community Development Officer for Downside, at South Bedfordshire District Council, added: “Once again team work has paid off with what is set to be a fantastic event. South Bedfordshire District Council is keen to take the opportunity to work with its partners and residents in helping to create a district we can be proud off. I’d like to invite everyone in Downside to come and join in with any of the events”.
