South Bedfordshire District Council - Notice of Proposals

Details of the intent to make additions or modifications to the Order, the effect of which is to amend the provisions of The South Bedfordshire District (Off-Street Parking Places) Order 2008, in respect of the multi-storey car park in Leighton Buzzard.

The South Bedfordshire District (Off - Street Parking Places) Amendment Order 2008

Notice is hereby given that South Bedfordshire District Council in exercise of its powers under Sections 32(1), 33(1), (2), (3) and (7), 34, 35, 35A, 35C, 39 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) (“the Act”), the Traffic Management Act 2004 Part 6 (“TMA”) and of all other enabling powers and in accordance with the Local Authorities’ Traffic Orders (Procedure) (England & Wales) Regulations 1996 and with the consent of Bedfordshire County Council in accordance with Section 39(3) of the Act and after consultation with the Chief Officer of the Police in accordance with paragraph 20 of Schedule 9 to the Act intends to make the above Order (“the Order”), the effect of which is to amend the provisions of The South Bedfordshire District (Off-Street Parking Places) Order 2008 (“the existing Order”) with the following additions or modifications:

  1. To amend the charging hours for West Street Multi Storey Car Park in Leighton Buzzard (“MSCP”) as follows:

    Monday to Saturday – 7am to 7pm.
    Sundays and Bank Holidays (excluding Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day) – 9.30am to 5.00pm.

  2. To introduce a staff permit system in respect of MSCP for those employed at 37, 39 and 41 High Street, Leighton Buzzard.

  3. To clarify the fact that there is no charge for authorised staff permits.


Documents giving more detailed particulars of the proposed Order may be viewed on the Council’s website www.southbeds.gov.uk/parking from Wednesday 7 May 2008 or at the address shown below between the hours of 8.45am and 5.15pm Mondays to Thursdays and 8.45am and 4.45pm on Fridays.

If you wish to make any objection or other representation relating to the proposed Order you must write, specifying the grounds for any objection, to the Head of Service-Community Operations at the address shown below or email to parking@southbeds.gov.uk. Any representations must be received by 11am on Monday 2 June 2008.
