Food Safety

Inspectors within the Health Protection team carry out routine food hygiene inspections of all the food premises within the district to ensure that they meet the relevant legislation. In addition, they deal with cases of food poisoning, food complaints, food hazard warnings and health promotion.

All food businesses should register with their local authority (please note mobile catering vans should register with the local authority for where the van is kept)

The Council also has a number of free publications available providing advice and guidance on food safety please contact us directly if you want a food safety pack or you have a specific query.
