Smokefree

South Beds District Council is smokefree; are you ?

England became smokefree on Sunday 1st July 2007.

The new smokefree law has been introduced to protect employees and the public from the harmful effects of second hand smoke.

It is now against the law to smoke in virtually all enclosed public spaces, workplaces and in public and work vehicles. Indoor smoking rooms in public places and work places are no longer allowed. The law applies to anything that can be smoked . This includes cigarettes, pipes (including water pipes such as shisha and hookah pipes), cigars and herbal cigarettes. Failure to comply with the law is a criminal offence.

This Service is responsible for the enforcing of this new law. For further information and advice follow the links below or contact Environmental Health.
