School Recycling Scheme

Over 70% of South Bedfordshire's school are now involved in our Recycling Scheme.

The Scheme

We provide a recycling bin (2 sizes available) and reusable bags for every classroom and office. These reusable bags can be filled, emptied into the bins then reused.

The Cost

The only cost to the school is payment for the bin. Collections and the reusable bags are free.

The Educational Support

We offer educational talks and activity sessions to help to students use the recycling bins correctly.

Please contact the Recycling Team for more information on joining the scheme or to book an educational visit.

Fundraising Ideas

Recycool

Local businesses can donate printer cartridges and mobile phones and the funds raised go to the school. There is also advice on there to help schools approach companies to get them recycling too! For more information please visit: www.recycool.org

Pennies for Phones

It is estimated that there are around 12 million redundant mobile phones tucked away in homes throughout the UK. The majority of these will end up in our already overflowing landfill sites! Here is your chance to make a difference! Why not recycle mobile phones belonging to your students and their families on site at school. The collection of the mobile phones is a free service offered to schools. Pulford Lower School recently raised 250.00 by collecting 41 old mobile phones for recycling. They said the whole process was straightforward and didn't cost any time or money. If your school would like more information please visit: www.foneclub.org.uk

Rags to Riches

From rags to riches! Yes clothes for cash.Bag2school collect textiles for recycling, including clothing, bedding, curtains, soft toys, shoes, belts and handbags. Your school is then paid per kilo for all textiles collected. There is no storage and the company provides the bags. Textiles make up 12% of landfill sites so do your bit for the environment and make some money for school funds. On average a school makes between 70 and 170 per collection!
