Housing Strategy

All local councils in England are required to produce a plan for the future of housing in their area.

South Bedfordshire District Council's Housing Strategy 2008 - 2013: Preparing for Change and Growth was adopted in December 2007.

This Strategy takes a broader view of housing than previous strategies, it recognises the influence of the Luton-South Bedfordshire Conurbation and it focuses on key strategic milestones for partnership delivery over the next five years. The Strategy covers six themes:

  • Shaping the Conurbation
  • Supplying Housing
  • Providing Realistic Choice
  • Decent Homes - Options for Vulnerable People
  • Managing our Assets
  • Delivering Quality Services in Partnership

Formal public consultation on the Strategy was carried out in the summer of 2007. Follow this link to see a summary of responses and how they were incorporated into the final version of the Strategy. (PDF 409KB)
