Interactive Local Plan online
The South Bedfordshire Local Plan Review provides detailed policies and specific proposals, which guide the development and use of land in the South Bedfordshire area.
The Local Plan consists of two elements – the Written Statement which sets out policies and proposals with explanatory text and the Proposals Maps which shows the locations of where specific policies and proposals apply.
The Government recently introduced changes to the planning system. In accordance with the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act September 2004, Local Plans are to be replaced by Local Development Frameworks (LDF’s). The Council is moving forward with the preparation of a joint Local Development Framework with Luton Borough Council.
Policies in Local Plans and Structure Plans were saved automatically for three years from the date of the new planning act. From 27th September 2007, some of the policies in the South Bedfordshire Local Plan Review have been deleted, and some extended. The saved policies in the Adopted Plan retains development plan status until replaced by policies in the emerging Local Development Framework.
